Amphorae – Makura Merlot Barbera – 2008

Israel,
Galilée,
Red wine with a deep ruby-red core, slightly lighter toward the rim, with a slight tawny nuance. Quite high concentration and viscosity here. The nose has some evolution and complexity here; I get a slight hint of black truffle, some fine spices, leather, dark plum, and dark berries. Quite multi-layered and nuanced, I like the nose. Palate is rich and full, ample, with a tannic presence, but I think they have dissolved pretty well into the wine. So it is much more of this lush, dark fruit, plum and scented flavours I get on the palate. It is a warm climate style, but quite rich and opulent, but well balanced for that style I would say. The wine has a few years to it for sure. It has developed a slightly more multi-layered flavour profile. So lush texture, enjoyable fruit, and a quite a long finish.
