France,
Rhone Valley,
Medium deep colour, ruby towards tawny at the rim. Sweet nose, ripe grapes, sunny climate, red fruity character, with plum and some notes of jam. Mild spices. Generous palate, it has medium weight, quite high ripeness, well-rounded, with mild tannin, mild spiciness, sweet red fruit; there’s a hint of leather, some of that traditional spiciness, what I would call leather / some animal notes. Certainly no new oak, it’s more of a traditional style. I would call it charming, classic southern French style, well-balanced pepper with character from that slightly leathery spiciness, some pepper on the finish, sweet ripe Grenache fruit. Charming, plenty of character.
