Azelia – San Rocco – 2012
Barolo
Italy,
Piedmont,
Medium deep ruby red colour with an orange hue. Generous nose offering some new oak, finely toasted hints, coffee bean, ripe red fruit and fine spices. The palate has very good weight and volume, youthful but balanced with all parts in place, high but ripe tannin giving lift, elegant red fruit with some spicy ginger and clove notes, fine oak, and a long finish with persistent flavour and approaching complexity. Very good now and even better in a few years.
