Hungary,
Villany,
Red wine that has started to shed some of the colour towards the rim, but the centre is still almost black. Quite discreet nose at first, showing off some spicy notes; a lot of spices there, dry wood, vanilla, almost something creamy like butter, sweet plum - almost like stewed plum. Palate has good weight, it has good structure; still a bit youthful, with protruding tannins. Quite attractive fruit in this case, it’s starting to dry out a little bit; we have that dark plum, red currant notes, some peppery notes, a hint of herbs. I certainly think this is a wine that offers more on the palate, the nose still needs some air to open up. It has good weight, I think it is just about now to start to round off the tannic edges. It has good length, warmth, and ripeness. Rather a traditional style, clearly marked by a long aging in oak; but I certainly think it has character and style, and should develop nicely.
