Spain,
Rioja,
Very inky colour here, impenetrable, really opaque. The nose is showing some medical herbs, dried spices with dark and inky fruit. Really ripe like prune, figs and dates. So high ripeness of fruit, quite sweet with some woody notes as well. Very dense palate. High concentration, high extract. Still appearing quite tannic, slightly drying on the palate. There is a lot of dried fruit there again; like prune, dried figs and dates with a lot of extract and some of those dried herbs shining through. There is a slight hint of oak in the background so high concentration, medium towards long finish. I would say it is a wine that is far from ready. It still appears very youthful. I would not drink it today I would put it back in the cellar to let the tannins soften and we should come back to it to see how it works in a few years.
