France,
Languedoc Roussillon,
Youthful dark blue purple colour, very high viscosity. Very intense nose, offering a lot of sweet ripe fruit, peppery dark berries, sweet plum, cherry liqueur. The palate is very sweet, it’s obviously a fortified style, with this high intensity, high ripeness, high sweetness, very delicious, round and unctuous texture here, with floral notes, violet, dark berries, and a lot of that fresh ground pepper in there. I think alcohol is still very reasonable, it keeps within that high bit not very high range. Finely grained tannins adding freshness to the wine. Despite this being a really rich and unctuous style of sweet wine from a hot climate, I would still talk about a certain freshness here. Very long lingering juicy dark fruit finish, something I’d very happily indulge to a nice a piece of chocolate cake. Good.
