France,
Languedoc Roussillon,
Red wine with a very deep colour, deep core, almost black at the centre with a ruby purple rim. Intense nose, clean, quite inviting with fine hints of toasted oak, we have a hint of vanilla here, dark ripe fruit, cassis, plum, well-seasoned with those dry spices and a dash of wood. There’s a bold structure, high ripeness, and a very full body. The tannins are still youthful and present in the wine, however they are ripe but I would still prefer to give this wine a few more years before drinking it, but they really add to the structure, it gives a nice lift and a sense of freshness on the palate. Very warm and ripe, doubtlessly, very dark fruit and some mild spices like clove and sweet pepper. Really persistent on the palate, warm, long finish, finishing off with a nice dose of spiciness. Really fine potential for this one, I would still prefer to put it away for another 2 years, for it to round off, and then I would be very happy to serve this with lamb marinated in herbs, some big juicy piece of meat.
