France,
Languedoc Roussillon,
Red wine, with a very intense colour, a dark ruby core; it has a little bit of evolution as it doesn’t have that much purple or blue in there. High intensity on the nose, very luscious with some roasted notes, there’s a hint of oak involved there, but the fruit is really playing first fiddle there. Dark black berries, dark plum, some sweet spices like vanilla and clove, pepper, I would call it very meaty. Very nice palate, good grip, it’s a full wine with good volume. It has a rather high fruit concentration but a gentle extraction, the tannins are not obtrusive at all, and there’s that meaty dark fruity core, with layers of those spices, clove and pepper. Very attractive, good body, good structure, very nice persistence on the palate. It’s still rather youthful, but we have a bit of evolution; I won’t hesitate a second to drink this now, put it in a decanter and have it with a nice juicy piece of meat - exactly what it’s made for. I think this feels like a very nice cuvée from the South, with a good dash of Syrah in there for those meaty and dark fruity spicy notes. A very nice wine, that I would happily drink.
