France,
Rhone Valley,
Very dark colour, blue-purple core, not a lot of evolution. Youthful nose, very pure, intense dark fruit, blackberry, cassis. Some fine wood, vanilla, mild spices. Very nice density on the palate, still very young, with a dense core of ripe dark fruit, like cassis and blackberry, there’s some peppery notes there too, ginger, some dried herbs. Tannins are still youthful but ripe. There’s really not a lot of new oak to talk about. Good expression of fruit. Very long, spicy finish. Plenty of character in this one, however certainly a wine that needs to develop a little bit more to gain complexity and roundness, but a fine result with that spicy Syrah character. Some meaty notes there, ground pepper. Clean, dark fruit, and a long, long aftertaste, there. Nice persistent flavours. All along marked by a good level of freshness.
