France,
Languedoc Roussillon,
Quite deep core still dark ruby with a hint of purple but lighter towards the rim, indicating a certain age. Very nice nose here. Quite opulent I would say, with finely integrated wood. Some roasted and smoky notes. Then very spicy dark fruit. Sweet ripe and dark berries, like plum and blackberry underlined with some ginger, plum, pepper, peppery spiciness. A meaty presence as well, some smoked meat. Very attractive. It gives you a lot on the palate. Certainly full-bodied, with good weight. There is a good tannic presence still appearing a bit youthful, but still with ripe tannins. Still with a high level of extraction. There is a slight presence of roasted wood as well. Mainly an abundance of really lushes dark fruit. With good pepperiness, plenty of spice on the finish. Good length, a lot of spiciness going on, on the after taste. Well preserved freshness as well. This is obviously a quite ripe wine, warm climate, sweet fruit. But I think the combination of tannin and acidity gives a very good sensation of freshness. In an ideal world, I would put this back in the cellar for one to three years to have the structure round of a little more, but it could easily be enjoyed today. So a very nice example.
