Château Bernateau – 2009

Very dark ruby/purple - beautiful nose, very expressive with fine oak, vanilla, dark plum, cherry and cassis some earthy notes reminiscent of truffle, smoke and liquorice, the palate is full and chewy, a bit more restrained than the nose, with young tannins and a bright freshness, nice purity of fruit and layers of crushed berries, some herbal spiciness in the background, good length and balance, should preferably get another few years to gain roundness and complexity.
