France,
Languedoc Roussillon,
Dense quite inky core, but much more evolution on the rim, with a watery rim, tawny, high viscosity, coloured tears. The nose has certainly got some evolution here, the fruit is towards the dry; some dry spices, some herbs, sweet fruits, prune, figs. Palate is ripe and warm, still with a youthful bite of tannin here, white pepper and herbs; we have that dark cherry, plum coming back, sweet red berries. Good density; and coming back to the second glass, the tannins are still present but they’re nicely integrated, I think this would offer a good level of drinkability today. It has a nice long length emphasizing that fruit, I would prefer to put this in a decanter slightly before drinking it, and with a nice dish such as a braised lamb with herbs, this would be very nice drinking with a certain level of complexity and evolution.
