France,
Bordeaux,
Red wine with a very dense, almost opaque core, some hints of blue-purple in there. Quite intense nose here with a lot of ripe dark fruit, dark cherry, dark chocolate, blackberry, but not really any evident oak. Quite modern on the palate; it’s combining a high level of extraction - but good extraction; tannins are present there but very powdery, grainy. Layers of dark fruit. I didn’t really pick up oak on the nose, but I get some finely underlying notes of roasted wood on the palate, a hint of vanilla. Feels like a very modern expression with this concentration, high extraction but finely tuned. Very rich and opulent in terms of fruit, with finely spicy notes and a very long lingering finish. Very good.
