France,
Provence,
Red wine, it still has a pretty dense core here with a slightly purple hint, but the rim has a certain evolution. Very nice nose here, I love this meatiness we get here, spicy-meaty, some notes of raw meat, a hint of smoke; there’s obviously oak but well-integrated here. There’s a whiff of vanilla, and dark fruit like peppery plum. Good grip on the palate here, certainly full-bodied if we should categorise it like that. Good density, good extraction as well; it has nice layers of tannins, it feels like they just integrated here so we get a lot freshness from that. I love this meatiness in wine like some notes of raw meat with those dark berries, fine spiciness. Good length as well. Really attractive, and of course I get a lot of Syrah connotations here with those meaty and peppery notes; probably a blend, this one. Whatever it is I like it a lot, and I think it has a good drinkability now. It has a certain age so I would happily drink it today but it’s a wine that doubtlessly has the structure to develop complexity over the coming 5 to 8 years or something like that. Very good.
