Chiusa Grande – Perla Nera – 2011

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
MEDAILLE-TASTED-91-2024
Italy,
Abruzzo,
Dark purple core and a slightly lighter rim. Some maturity on the nose, ripe dark plum and cherry with some tobacco, leather and aromatic herbs. Very dense and concentrated palate, still youthful with a high extraction but starting to open, nice layers of spicy dark fruit and well-preserved freshness, well-integrated oak, and a long and muscular finish. A powerful wine deserving just another 1-2 years in the cellar or a thorough decanting.
