Cono Sur – 20 Barrels Syrah – 2012
Limari Valley

Chile,
Limari Valley,
Very dark and inky colour, appearing youthful. Quite a fine nose here. I would talk about quite multi-layered here combining dark fruit; like blackberry, cassis. Slightly meaty and smoky notes. With some pepper, a hint of new oak. I really like this palate. It is quite medium weight with a rounded texture. Nicely grainy tannin. Layers of juicy dark fruit, violet, blackberry, pepper, clove, ginger notes. Very digest I would say. The fruit is obviously quite ripe and sweet, but it is balanced by a fresh acidity, well-integrated oak. Long and meaty finish. A very fine example.
