Portugal,
Douro,
Intense and dark colour here, impenetrable dark purple core. Very perfumed on the nose displaying a wealth of ripe dark fruit, with violet, blackberry, cassis. Quite sweet spiciness there with sweet pepper notes. Very generous palate. Truly full bodied here, with a good balance between extract and fruitiness. Ripe dark fruit here. Good density and weight. Really grainy tannin with sweet fruity character with those lovely floral and violet-like notes. A hint of spice box on the finish with sweet pepper, ginger, clove, orange peel. Really warm and long finish. Certainly a very youthful wine. I take great pleasure in drinking it today. But it should have the potential to go on for another ten to fifteen years, so a truly fine example.
