Domaine Frey Charles – Quintessence Riesling – 2012
Alsace

France,
Alsace,
White wine that has a light golden colour. Quite rich and expressive nose there, giving off a lot of fruit; stone fruit, yellow plum. There’s also a slight hint of smoke, some nutty almondy notes, and honey, indicating a certain sweetness. Palate, however, is bone-dry, with a fresh acidity; really good grip there. It’s medium weight with a fairly long finish; attractive yellow fruit there with sweet pineapple, those yellow plums. Mouthwatering acidity. Good drinkability right now. However, Riesling is always a variety that is capable of quite long evolution, even on the basic level. Well-made classical style.
