France,
Rhone Valley,
Deep ruby core, quite meaty nose, with some hints of leather, spices. There’s ripe fruit there too, quite a mix of red and dark berries, and some smoky notes. Palate is very youthful; quite ample wine, with a full body, rather rigid tannins still very present there. Not a lot of new oak. I would call this a rather traditional style, it still has some of that gamey leathery spiciness. High acidity there, still youthful tannins, nice bite of fruit with some ginger and black pepper, with that mixture of red and black berries. Quite long finish, still marked by tannin however; this is a young wine, in a traditional, slightly rustic style, a wine I would certainly like to put away in the cellar for two more years before attempting to drink it. But nice result, in a classic style, for long aging.
