France,
Languedoc Roussillon,
Red wine with a medium towards intense colour, the core is still on the purple, with a slightly lighter rim. Very intense nose here, showing a lot of oak, new oak here, some roasted notes of vanilla. Quite high degree of ripeness too, in terms of fruitiness; dark plum, crushed dark berries. Rather bold palate, full bodied, a bit sturdy today, still youthful in terms of tannins, the oak is still present on the palate, something that I would prefer to age for at least another year before it softens and opens up; but it has a good purity of fruit, good weight, and density of fruit. Fairly persistent on the palate, and despite this high ripeness and the influence of roasted oak, it has a good level of acidity to give a lift on the palate.
