France,
Rhone Valley,
Slightly evolved colour, dense ruby core but rather rusty on the rim. Intense nose showing evolution, some dried fruit character, cedar wood, tobacco and spice box; quite sweet red fruit, almost like confiture. Good grip on the palate, quite full, with ample fruit; sweet fruit with a good amount of tannins that are just integrated, they’re quite present but they’re mild, not harsh in any way. Nice and juicy sweet fruit with an underlying spiciness; appears like a rich and ripe style from a warm year, but I think this has nice balance without any hints of overripeness, just that juicy sweet fruit; and really multi-layered, I think the components have integrated well. It has a good long persistence, with that fine nuanced spiciness. Very juicy style in terms of drinkability, no hard edges whatsoever. Very generous, with a certain complexity. It’s nice!
