France,
Rhone Valley,
White wine, with a quite pale colour; there’s a slight hint of straw yellow, pale green. Clean nose, medium intensity here, it’s not really aromatic grapes; it starts off discreetly, and it gives off some hints of lemon zest, then I get some spicy notes like aniseed, fennel, some herbal and vegetal components, some licorice. Quite interesting. No really evident oak. Palate is dry, quite rich, quite ample, it’s a wine rather in the Southern style, it doesn’t really have a high acidity but with a good extract that gives a lift, rather opulent fruit. Palate is quite persistent, in a ripe style, fairly high in alcohol, with spicy, aniseed, fennel and fresh herbs notes, with some hints of quince and citrus. Bold, quite opulent texture, long finish, rather persistent, in a ripe generous Southern style. Pleasant wine, and a style I would prefer to drink rather young, but I think it has the density and concentration to evolve for a few years as well.
