Portugal,
Alentejo,
Youthful, quite dark colour, with a purple core. Fine nose here, quite elegant, with ripe, but not over-ripe fruit. Displaying hints of violet. Dark fruits, such as blackberry, plum, cassis. Mild spiciness and a gentle hint of oak. That is very nice. I really like the palate, because this has a concentration, but I think a quite natural concentration. The extraction is really in check. It doesn’t appear tannic. It has good extract but ripe tannin. Almost like with those hints cocoa powder giving a lift to the palate. Those dark berries but with fine acidity. So it is a good lift on the palate. Quite layered here with mild spices on the finish, with white pepper, clove. Really attractive fruit, finely integrated wood as well. Long and lingering finish. I really like the freshness in this one. Combining ripe fruit and freshness. Very digest. Good drinkability. Even though this is a potential for ten years. So a fine example indeed.
