Famiglia Castellani – Fattoria di Travalda – 2013

Quite dark ruby core but a lighter rim. Youthful nose, dark berries, cherry, almond, some new oak and dry spices. The palate is chewy and dense, still young but ripe extract/tannin, fresh dark cherry and aniseed notes, and a long and vigorous finish. Good material, still needing some time to open/develop complexity.
