Argentina,
Uco Valley,
Very massive colour here, really black-purple opaque core, really colouring the glass. The nose is also what I would call massive with a high ripeness, really inky dark fruit. However, not overripe, I don’t get anything jammy or cooked in this one. Really with an emphasis of fruit, not with a lot of oak. Plenty of weight and density here. Quite high extraction, but not harsh in any way. So a lot of grainy tannin. Really juicy dark fruit like cassis, blackberry, dark cherry. With some pepperiness, slight hint of vanilla. It is doubtless a wine with a lot of weight and very long finish. Quite massive and persistent. It is not a style of wine I would like to drink today. It will surely gain a lot of complexity for another 2, 3, 4, 5 or whatever you like years. It has a good potential of fruit, as there is a good purity of fruit, well integrated oak already. There is ripe tannin, there is plenty of length. This is definitely a wine that will open up nicely. However, to judge its potential I think this is a real serious wine that will become very good.
