Fratelli Serio & Battista Borgogno – Cannubi – 2011
Barolo

Italy,
Piedmont,
A wine with a quite orange sunburst colour. Nose has a lot of evolution, it’s showing age, with a certain hint of oxidation, dried fruit; dried tomato, dried cherry. Palate has a quite dense grip, slightly firm tannin here, with elevated acidity. Fruitiness is more towards the dried fruit, dried tomato, dried cherry, dry wood, some tobacco. It has length for sure, I would say medium weight; it has length still with very present tannin. The fruit today is not really in harmony with the tannin, so it appears slightly dry and austere. I would judge this is a very traditional style, with a long oak aging, which is interesting in its own style; but I would prefer probably to put this back in the cellar, to give it a slightly rounder and more harmonious appearance.
