France,
Beaujolais,
Light towards medium-deep colour. It is ruby-red with a youthful hint of purple. Pure and attractive nose, displaying fresh berry fruit. Combining red and dark berries, plum, redcurrant, raspberry. With a gentle spiciness. No evidence of oak. Slight floral hint as well, violet. Good grip on the palate. It is medium weight but it has an excellent freshness. Really finely grained tannin. Good flavour intensity here of those freshly crushed red berries. Good length, persistent with a slight spiciness going on. Still a very youthful wine, but it is already presenting itself pretty well. I think this should be consumed fairly early, but it would certainly gain complexity over the coming year.
