Portugal,
Alentejano,
Quite dense colour here, still youthful with a dark ruby-red, slight purple hue at the core. Fresh nose, with a very ripe fruit. There is a good degree of sunshine here with ripe red and dark berries. Yet, not over-ripe. No indication of oak on the nose. Some spicy hints of liquorice and mint. Good density on the palate. Fine concentration. Mostly dark fruity flavour, with plum and some cassis. There is a hint of tannin, but I think this is about to open up now. It is a full-bodied wine. I think it is well-made because it is not attempting to extract too much. It is not too much oak. It is really a good expression of warm climate and naturally ripe fruit. So good juiciness and freshness with a long lingering finish, with cassis, plum and liquorice flavours. Good drinkability now, and over the coming it should develop in five, six years easily.
