France,
Champagne,
Obviously a sparkling wine with a quite intense youthful mousse. The colour is rather deep rosé, more towards a light red style, with a slight copper tinge. Very intense nose, expressive here, this is what I would call a very vinous style, with a clear presence of the lees aging. Some floral notes, might be perhaps a slight hint of oak. I think aromatically this spans more toward the Chardonnay side, with some mineral notes; with citrus, almonds and then with a slight perfume of red berries as well. Very intense palate here, still very youthful. I would certainly call this a full bodied Champagne. I think the acidity is really pronounced now, really marked. Of course this is the backbone of Champagne, but it still appears a bit young on the palate there, with a good creaminess. Mid-plate really has a nice creaminess, then on the finish the youthful acidity comes back again. It is quite austere and acidity dominated finish. However, I think it is of good quality with its medium weight, intense flavours, rather with the presence of Chardonnay more than the Pinot. It has a good length, I would call this still today a bit young. Certainly a Champagne with a structure to age and to develop. None of the less a really personal and interesting style.
