Maison Bouachon – La Tiare du Pape – 2010
Châteauneuf du Pape

France,
Rhone Valley,
Developed colour, medium deep ruby-red. The nose also has some development here. The fruit is leaning towards dried fruit, with hints of prune, fig, dried berries, with some dried herbs and liquorice and jammed cherry, or almost like the liquor kirsch. The palate is broad and bold. With a lot of density here. Still with a youthful gripe in terms of both tannin and acidity. It gives a good lift. A lot of density here in terms of fruit, dark cherry, almost like cherry liquor, with plum and those hints of dried herbs. Still very vigorous. I think aromatically it is showing some evolution. But it still has a lot of generosity and youthful fruitiness on the palate. Well-balanced in a warm and lush style I would say. And a quite lingering after taste. Rather long and persistent. Drinking truly well right now and should continue to do so for the coming five to six years.
