Argentina,
Mendoza,
Red wine with a very intense, inky, opaque core. The nose starts out quite spicy, peppery with some notes of spice box, a hint of wood, roasted wood. The fruit here is aromatic, it is very ripe, with a hint of dried or cooked fruit almost. Palate has a high density and high extraction. The tannins are really present, appearing a bit dry and present. Indicating that at least I would give this some more aging to soften a little bit. So a lot of dry extract there, with really a wealth of dark ripe fruit, such as plum, blackberry and dark cherry. Oak is present on the palate as well, adding some roasted and burnt flavour on the finish. High ripeness in terms of alcohol as well, you feel slightly a hot finish. I would say this is a really massive wine with a lot of extraction. It is certainly a style that will require some further cellaring before it opens up and starts to show more nuance, so I would prefer to come back to this one.
