Monteti – 2011

Italy,
Tuscany,
Still a quite youthful colour the core is slightly blue-purple, more ruby towards the rim. Medium intense nose with hints of dark berries, cassis, dark plum, with some cherry and a slight spicy note of liquorice. The palate is quite full-bodied. Still appearing a bit youthful. There is a presence of tannin. Still appearing a bit youthful. Otherwise, there is plenty of juicy fruit, those dark berries. Underlined by liquorice and anise seed spiciness. Some herbal notes like mint and sage. There is a good freshness here in terms of acidity. Quite long finish. Still a youthful wine. I would prefer to put it back in the cellar for one to two years to round off the edges. From then on it should open up quite nicely.
