Red wine with the rim is indicating a certain evolution. It is starting to loose some colour, but the core is still very dense, dark ruby. Quite expressive nose there, multi-layered with fine spiciness and a lot of dark fruit - like dark plum, blackberry, some wild berry notes. Just a gentle hint of oak, not really evident. Some notes of a slightly leafy, herbal spiciness as well - like bay leaf, mint. Quite concentrated palate, but nicely rounded today. In terms of texture, there is a lot of grainy tannins in the background, and on the palate it feels more traditional without any oak influence. It is just a lot of that dark, plumy fruit. It feels very merlot in style, with that soft and quite plush texture. Some wild berry fruit as well. It has a good length and I say it is perfectly drinkable now as it has rounded off the sensation of extract. Good freshness on the finish, some spicy notes, hints of liquorice, anise seed and a rather long persistence.
