Switzerland,
Valais,
Red wine, rim indicating a certain evolution, but the core is still almost inky, deep ruby. Fine evolution on the nose there, some smoky gently spicy notes like vanilla, pepper, ripe wild berry fruit, black berry. Really good grip on the palate, plenty of volume, plenty of weight. I think this now is a wine that has got a few years of evolution, which it needed because it had a lot of extract; the tannins have integrated finely right now. The oak is not really noticeable. Second taste leaves more on the fruit, still with that old spice, peppery spiciness, but really with multilayered fruit, with finely integrated tannins. Long, nuanced finish. Warm and ripe, but absolutely in balance without noticeable alcohol, and discreet wood. I would call this a complex wine now, with good complexity and power, that has softened. Still has ten years potential in the cellar, easily, but it drinks really fine now. Very nice wine.
