Portugal,
Dao,
Quite youthful colour here, still blue-purple core, slightly lighter towards the rim. Quite intense nose here. Ripe dark fruit. Still appearing youthful. Mostly based on the primary fruit; that consists of dark berries, plum, dark cherry. With some spicy notes of liquorice, anise seed. No noticeable oak so far. Very tight palate, not in a negative way, but a very dense palate I should say. It is still youthful, still a present of tannin, but ripe tannin. With really layers of lushes dark fruit. Hint of roasted oak, in the background. A lot of spiciness going on, on the finish, with clove, white pepper. The wine has a very good length as well and very fine acidity and freshness. The only thing is that this would need a few more years. I see a big potential in this one, well voila, due to the density, structure and length. It is still youthful and primary, but it is certainly a style that will develop much more complexity in the coming years.
