Portugal,
Peninsula de Setubal,
Deep red colour, with dark, ruby-red core, but still showing some age. Nothing blue or purple left in there. The nose suggests dark fruit, quite high level of ripeness. Sweet plum, blackberry with some vanilla and a hint of oak. Generous palate, quite bold here. Opulent style, there is a generous amount of roasted oak on the palate, with vanilla, pepper and cinnamon. The fruit is really ripe with a slight sweet sensation, like macerated cherries, dark plum. Quite rounded tannins already. I think this is not really that young, it has a few years to it. Attractive sweet fruit. Good drinkability today, still with a slight presence of oak on the palate, but that should probably integrate within the few coming years.
