Italy,
Piedmont,
Quite deep colour there, medium towards deep golden with a high viscosity. Very intense nose. I still get that sensation of roughness, freshly fermented wine and wood in the cellar, but certainly has more complexity than that. We can feel some oak aging here; much more nougat, nuts, some honeyed fruit, and some spicy notes. Really warm mouthfeel at first, this feels like slightly elevated alcohol. It really gives you that warm sensation on the palate, but at the same time it has a high flavour intensity. Some of that oak ageing is shining through. I pick up a little hint of sweetness, but it could actually be the alcohol there. Flavor wise, it has a lot of nuts, chocolate, nougat, a mixed bag of nice pralines. So flavour intense. On the finish the actual alcohol is actually vanishing, you get much more of the sweetness and chocolatey notes. So a grappa with a lot of character and intensity.
