France,
Languedoc Roussillon,
Deep straw colour or rather boarding light golden, I would say. Fine nose. Very Chardonnay, with a fine nuttiness, quite discreet oak but still a nice hint of toastiness. Just about ripe fruit. It is at the same time quite mineral, with barely ripe stone fruit, such as white peach, ripe lemon. A lot of nuttiness like almond and hazelnut. Gentle floral hint as well. Very nice palate. I like this dryness. This is very much what I would call a classical Burgundian style, with that breath that Chardonnay can give. Nice roundness, at the same time the finish is really bone-dry, mouth-watering. A lot of nuttiness in there with fresh almond, pear, citrus. Quite discreet oak, more Burgundian or almost even Chablis like because it has a nice grip and firmness to it. Long finish. Good persistence. Really fine example. A very good drink today, but this is certainly a style of white wine that should develop nicely within the coming six to eight years, I would say.
