Germany,
Baden,
Red wine with a moderately deep colour, starting to lose some of that youthful blue-purple. Medium deep ruby, with a slightly lighter rim. Nice expression on the nose. Combining sweet fruit. Mainly red berry fruit, like ripe raspberry, strawberry, with some plum. There are some gently toasted notes as well, indicating a slight hint of oak and also a meaty component. In the direction of smoked meat in a quite mild spiciness. Good grip on the palate. A wine that has medium weight and a quite soft and subtle texture. Already what I would call a good level of drinkability. There is a gentle hint of oak on the palate, but it is rather dominated by the lush, rounded, sweet red fruit with a mild spiciness, in the direction of clove, ginger and that nice meaty, smokiness on the finish. So long and voluptuous finish, really well balanced. A wine that should go on for eight to ten more years, but it drinks already pretty well today.
