Vigneti del Salento – Vigne Vecchie – 2012

Dark purple hue. Modern nose with vanilla and new oak - sweet dark berries and jammed fruit. The palate is off dry with a marked sweetness, jammed dark fruit and Kirsch liqueur, still rather marked by the wood, warm and ripe with noticeable alcohol and a sweet finish. Ambitious but still marked by the wood, should develop but appears a bit sweet to me.
