France,
Languedoc Roussillon,
Very youthful appearance here. Quite inky colour here, purple-black core. Rather high viscosity it seems. A bit youthful and closed on the nose at first. However, one could sense the sunshine and ripeness here. So quite inky dark fruit such as cassis, dark cherry, plum, some notes of dark chocolate and a mild spiciness. The wine has excellent weight and density. It certainly needs some aeration or further ageing to open up. It has a nicely built structure with great density of fruit with those dark berries. Very grainy tannin, almost like cocoa powder. Very long and persistent finish. Well preserved acidity, good purity of fruit. There is not really noticeable oak, in case it is well integrated. Very long finish actually. I think it is a wine that is still a bit closed, not a lot of expressions to start with. It is still a youthful wine with great potential. It should certainly deserve a half an hour in a decanter, or preferably another few years in the cellar, but excellent potential here.
