France,
Languedoc Roussillon,
Very youthful colour, deep black centre with a purple rim. Pure nose, showing off sweet fruit. Feels quite Southern French to me in style, like Grenache. We have some leathery notes, some dry spices and pepper, sweet plum; quite traditional style, with quite a low amount of new oak. Palate is nice and rounded despite its youth, I think the tannins are well integrated. It’s rather forward, juicy fruit, with the plum, with the crushed berries; we have that nice underlying spiciness with some gently animal notes, and a touch of leather. This is what I would call well-made in a traditional style. Medium weight, with a nice juicy attractive fruit, and a quite long spicy finish. Another wine which will develop for sure, but I’d be happy to drink this today with something very traditional like a cassoulet.
