Vignobles JeanJean – La Côte Qui Descend – 2012
Minervois La Livinière

France,
Languedoc Roussillon,
Quite deep colour, deep core, dark ruby, with a slightly lighter rim, but still keeping that youthful purple tinge. Fine nose, there’s layers there, of ground pepper, fine spice, dark fruit with those blackberry, dark plum notes. No noticeable oak, rather with an emphasis on fruit. On the palate, there’s a good degree of freshness, that attracts me; quite restrained, warm dark fruit. It’s in a nicely made style, with reasonable oak, with a good degree of freshness. I like theses layers of spices again, those dark berries with the ground pepper, with the clove, some ginger; very fresh and digest on the palate. Good length, still youthful, but very nice drinkability, juicy dark fruit, discreet wood. I like this very much, it’s fresh, drinkable, yet concentrated and ripe style.
