France,
Languedoc Roussillon,
Very intense colour here, appearing bright youthful. With a purple-black core. Intense nose. With lots of ripe fruit here; dark plum, blackberry. Bordering on really Mediterranean fruits like fig steaks, with that high ripeness. There is also a very spicy element almost like balsamic, with some herbs and dried spices, almost like medical herbs. Adding a quite exotic touch, a touch of mint. A high concentration, no doubt. Very dense with plenty of weight. However, my reaction is that this really ripe fruit and acidity, is well balanced by a very good level of freshness, of acidity. In terms of extract, it is quite integrated already. Of course we feel a certain tannic presence on the finish, but I think it is well assembled and it definitely has length as well. I just find it a bit young. This is certainly a high quality wine that will develop more perfume and subtleness on the palate as it goes on. So I would say a high quality wine, but I would put it back in the cellar. Give it one to three years and it should open up nicely.
