Germany,
Rheingau,
Red wine with a fairly light colour intensity, approaching maturity. The core is light ruby with a tawny rim. Developed nose. Some complexity, some maturity, but still more on the fruity side. With layers of sweet fruit. Almost like confiture, of raspberry, red berries, with a hint of smoke. Not really oaky but a hint of smokiness there, with some mild spices, like vanilla, clove and some ripe apricot. Nice palate there. There is a good grip. At the same time, it is fairly velvety in terms of texture. Sweet red fruit, however not too sweet, so we still have some spiciness of some orange zest and ginger, giving a lift on the palate. Some peppery notes as well. Elegant raspberry fruit. I would say this one is a quite Burgundian style because it has elegant red fruit. Good length, good flavour intensity, but it stays in the frame of medium weight I would say. Good harmony, approaching complexity, good potential. Even though it is really drinkable today.
