Austria,
Burgenland,
Very dense, ruby-red colour, with a black core. High viscosity, truly indicates sweetness. The nose is very much on the spicy side, with dark bitter chocolate, liquorice. Dark dried fruit, like prune, dates and figs. A lot of pepperiness, black pepper and clove. Very sweet on the palate, but I like it, as it is a red wine there is some tannin in there that gives a good sensation of freshness on the palate. Spicy, layered with black pepper, clove, bay leaf, aromatic herbs on the palate. It does have a quite high degree of sweetness. I very much like it actually. More in the direction of these southern French fortified wines, like Vin Doux or Maury. Black pepper, chocolate on the finish. Very long and lingering. Not a usual style but this was a great discovery actually. I really like it.
