Portugal,
Peninsula de Setubal,
Very dark and inky colour here. Impenetrable with a purple-black core. Intense nose. Good purity and truly really ripe fruit here, like black-purple berries, like blackberry, plum, cassis. Good amount of spiciness as well. Some orange zest, ginger, clove. A lot of expression. No noticeable oak. Rather this pure floral dark fruit. Very dense palate. There is a lot of stuffing here. It is still appearing very youthful and tight, but it is doubtlessly a very full-bodied, very heavy weight. Despite that ripeness of fruit, that wealth of floral dark fruit it does have a good level acidity. There is plenty of tannin giving a lift. At present, once again I get that tannic sensation, they should need some more time to soften. I really like this character, a lot of expression. Plenty of spice and juicy dark fruit and a very long finish. I would like to put this back in my cellar for at least, one to two years for it to open up a little bit. But it obviously has the structure to go on for much longer than that. So I would say this is a darn fine potential so be patient.
