USA,
California,
Medium intense, ruby-red colour, a slight evolution on the rim. Generous nose, displaying some new oak. There are some roasted hints, some coffee bean, vanilla, paired with quite sweet fruit. Dark sweet berries, in the direction of dark cherry, plum, and some spicy notes, such as sage, anise seed and sweet plum. Good volume and good weight. Rather dense fruit here. Tannins are present, but they are quite well integrated. Rather grainy, adding a good sensation of freshness. In terms of flavour, we have those dark berries, dark cherry, cassis and plum. With some of that spiciness of anise seed, some herbal notes like sage and mint. Quite persistent finish. It is a high ripeness, but I think alcohol is in balance. Mild acidity. Some roasted notes, there is still some oak present on the finish. So a youthful wine, with a good potential. Starting to become approachable today. I would happily drink it with a juicy piece of steak. However, I think it will gain much more complexity from further ageing.
