France,
Champagne,
Light golden colour, still quite youthful appearance. Fine but vivid bubbles. Intense nose, indicating quite a lot of ripeness here. There is some complexity from the ageing. So a lot of notes in the direction of butter, brioche. Ripe yellow fruit, like peach, apricot, slightly floral. To me it brings me more towards the Chardonnay style, but I am not sure of the exact blend. Still very ripe and very vinous, I should say. I like this, really good grip on the palate. This is combining a quite lush and tropical fruitiness, underlined by a fine creamy mousse. The acidity is still really there. Really bright and fresh on the palate. I think this is what Champagne does best. It delivers pleasure, opulence and freshness at the same time, but it is good. I like the freshness. It starts out quite broad and lush on the palate. On the finish it is classically dry, salivating and mouth-watering. Really attractive champagne with a certain maturity. I would call it perfectly drinkable today, but should have the potential to go on and develop more complexity in the coming, seven, eight, nine years, depending on the style and the style of Champagne you like.
