Austria,
Burgenland,
Quite intense dark colour, still with some evolution, nothing blue or purple in there, rather a medium-deep, ruby-red nuance. Pure nose, slight hint of roasted oak. I pick up some coffee beans, mocha, with dark fruit, really plum, cassis. Some anise seed, liquorice. So quite ripe, dark fruitiness. Quite rigid structure on the palate. Good backbone of tannin. Still a bit youthful, but not intrusive in anyway. Just quite present on the palate. Backing up that really rich dark fruit. It very much leans in the direction of Cabernet due to that tannic presence. Attractive dark and redcurrant fruit with plum. Aromatic herbs on the palate as well, like sage, we have some anise seed. Quite long aftertaste. Well-underlined by a fresh acidity. The oak is not really noticeable on the finish so I feel it starts to integrate. However it seems a bit closed, certainly a structure for long ageing. Easily should be put back in the cellar and develop for the next ten years.
